Radha Naturals

Radha whom we fondly call Radhamma comes from a traditional family of central Travancore, a land where life once moved in rhythm with the seasons, the soil, and the soul. Her childhood unfolded amid endless stretches of coconut palms and rippling paddy fields, where the earth breathed abundance and every home was a world unto itself. Mornings often began with the soft cadence of temple bells, evenings resonated with devotional Bhajans performed by family members together in a cherished ritual known as Sandhyanamam.  Festivals at the village temples came alive with music, dance, and shared joy that bound the community together.

Nothing then was hurried, and nothing was artificial. Oil, food, and medicine were not bought off shelves; they were prepared at home with patience and wisdom refined over generations. Everything was pure, unadulterated, and deeply connected to nature.  Coconut oil pressed from freshly harvested nuts, meals cooked with ingredients grown in one’s own land, remedies crafted with hands that understood both care and cure.

In that world, tradition was not a performance but a way of living, where music and chanting flowed naturally into daily life.  P purity was not a label, but a lived truth passed quietly from one generation to the next.

As the family grew and land holdings gradually diminished, the outward symbols of wealth faded. Yet what never diminished was the wisdom she absorbed in those early years. She still remembers, with striking clarity, the methods used in her home, especially the traditional Kerala process of oil making. Raw coconut oil, as commonly used today, was rarely applied. Instead, oils such as Ventha Velichenna and Kachiya Enna were carefully prepared through fermentation, slow cooking, and herbal infusion, making them gentler, more nourishing, and deeply therapeutic for hair and body.

Radhamma became an expert in this traditional Kerala method, not through books or formal training, but through observation, repetition, and lived experience. During her stay in Ahmedabad with her daughter, my mother, she returned to this practice, preparing these oils at home exactly as she had learned decades ago.

The difference was evident immediately. The oil had a softness, a natural aroma, and a quality that spoke of patience and purity. Its effects on hair strength, scalp health, skin nourishment, and overall comfort were noticeable and lasting. Seeing this, I encouraged her to continue making the oil, not just for family use, but to share with others who value authenticity and care.

This is how Radha Naturals came into being. It is not a commercial experiment, but a continuation of a way of life.

At present, two variants are prepared under her direct supervision. 1) Urukku Velichenna / Ventha Velichenna is an extra virgin coconut oil made from fermented coconut milk using the traditional Kerala process. It is known for its cooling nature, deep nourishment, and ability to strengthen hair roots while maintaining scalp balance. 2) Kachiya Enna is a herbal oil made from pure coconut oil sourced from Kerala, slowly cooked with selected herbs to support hair growth, relieve body fatigue, and promote overall wellness, we branded it as Pepper Leaf Coconut Oil.

A third variant which we recently started to market  is the pure cold pressed coconut oil drawn from the local expeller of our village in Kerala.  This oil is repacked in glass bottles, as it deserves to be protected, preserved, and passed on with respect.

In winter, when the oil solidifies, it can simply be placed in a bowl of hot water to liquefy, without the guilt of heating plastic bottles and worrying about possible contamination.
These oils are made / packed in small batches, without haste, preservatives, or shortcuts. They carry the care of a grandmother who believes that what we apply to our body should be prepared with the same attention as food made for loved ones.

Radha Naturals is, at its heart, a sharing of that belief.
